G6PD (Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase) is an enzyme that helps red blood cells function properly by protecting them from damage. Some people are born with G6PD deficiency, a genetic condition that makes their red blood cells more fragile.

This blood test is important to have before starting high dose Vitamin C infusions due to the risk of haemolysis (red blood cell breakdown).

You only need to have a G6PD blood test once before starting Vitamin C infusions with us.
